APPLICATIONS: The Itron G5R ™
handheld computer combines the latest technology
with a full duplex radio in a small and
power efficient package. It is capable of
reading all Hersey ® meters equipped
with AMR touchpads when used with the Versaprobe
universal probe. The G5R's integral radio
receives all 50W ERT radio read module signals.
Manual entry of data for visually read meters
and notes is supported as well. When used
with the Itron meter reading management
software, or Hersey EZ™ Reader software,
a variety of reports can be generated to
assist in management of all aspects of water
and resources use. Accurate data collection,
a faster read to bill cycle, and increased
meter reading productivity are available
with this simply, yet comprehensive meter
reading tool.
CONFORMANCE TO STANDARDS: The G5R
computer is tested to MIL-STD-810E for drop,
humidity, rain, shock, dust, vibration and
altitude.
DESCRIPTION: The G5R computer is
lightweight, rugged and ergonomincally designed
for comfortable use in all envioronmental
conditions. The LCD display is manufactured
with temperature compensated contrast control
and backlighting for viewing ease. The 30
character x 18 line screen provides plenty
of room for the display of meter information
and notes. Forty applicaitons definable
keys in a flat membrane keyboard template
that is field replaceablemake data entry
easy when required. Since 99% of a meter
reader's keystrokes are numeric entry, a
ten digit numeric keypad is located in an
easy to use location. A new power management
system chooses from differnt processor modesto
enhance performance and battery life, allowing
more reads without charging the battery

16 BM Compact Flash card technology permits
the storage of critical information without
a power source.
G5 POD: Itron's G5 POD is a compact,
affordable communications cradle and battery
charger. As an advanced cradle unit, the
POD is lightweight and versatile with enhanced
charging capabilities. With the POD, a battery
pack can be charged individually while installed
in the G5 unit, or a combination of an individual
battery pack and a G5 unit can be charged
simultaneously. Other features include:
