APPLICATIONS: The Itron ® Mobile
Collection System™ is the latest addition
in mobile meter reading solutions from the
AMR industry’s leader. The system is
designed to be temporarily installed in
a vehicle used to drive a meter reading
route. Capable of reading water, gas and
electric meters, the system can read up
to 24,000 meters in a single route at a
time or can read up to 100,000 meters when
reading multiple routes simultaneously.
The Mobile Collection System is compatible
with all Hersey meters equipped with ERT
modules. Itron or Hersey software is used for all
reading, report generation and import/export
of data functions and is sold separately.

OPERATION: The Mobile Collection
System is a total meter reading system with
a complete range of functionality when combined
with Hersey meters and the utility’s
choice of software. It can read ERT modules
connected to a variety of manufacturers’
meters in either wake-up or bubble-up mode.
The Itronix® GoBook MAX™ laptop
features a user friendly interface with
its full color, touch screen, interactive
display. Operation and training are simple
for route drivers. It’s as simple as
turning it on and driving the route at posted
speed limits. Interaction with the laptop
consists of turning it on at the beginning
of the route and turning it off upon completion.
At the end of the day the unit can be removed
from the vehicle and the data is uploaded
to the billing system. The system is completely
network compatible for uploads and downloads
or can operate on a stand alone PC.

CONSTRUCTION: The Mobile Collection
System consists of a rugged Itronix GoBook
MAX laptop interface and the Mobile Collector
which is encased in a durable plastic cabinet.
The Itronix GoBook laptop interface has
a full color, touch sensitive screen. It
operates on Windows 2000 software interface.
The laptop’s 20 GB hard drive is supported
by 64M CF nonvolatile backup. The Mobile
Collector transmits the required wake-up
tone (when programmed in wake-up mode) and
receives the return signal from the ERT
module. All mounting hardware, cabling and
direct mount antennae are included with
the system, which should be hard wired to
the fuse block for power. Total weight of
the entire system is approximately 25 pounds.
