APPLICATIONS: The VersaProbe device
is a universal probe for remote reading
of water meters equipped with a remote register
and touchpad. With a true "open-architecture"
design, it allows the utility to read any
brand touchpad meter in the system with
this single probe, eliminating the need
for multiple sets of reading equipment.
The VersaProbe device can be used by itself
for visual readout of touchpads, or combined
with a handheld computer and route management
software for a complete meter reading system.
When used as a stand alone device, the expanded
memory can hold up to 500 reads for downloads
at a future time.

The Hersey EZ Reader ™ Route Management
Software for a complete, reliable and easy
to use meter reading system.
HANDHELD COMPUTER COMPATIBILITY:
The VersaProbe device is compatible with
the Psion® Wworkabout™ and Itron®
G5R™ handheld computer as well as the
handheld models offered by Badger, Datamatic,
Logicon, Radix, Invensys, and Neptune.
METER COMPATIBILITY: The VersaProbe
device can be used to read touchpad meters
from Hersey Meters, as well as those offered
by AMCO, Badger, Hexagram, Master Meter,
Precision, Neptune, Invensys and Metron
Farnier.
CONSTRUCTION: The body is constructed
of heavy-duty high impact plastic that provides
excellent weather and shock resistance.
The VersaProbe device is lightweight and
ergonomically shaped for a comfortable grip
and easy operation. The LCD display offers
2 lines of characters displayed in a large
easy-to-read font. Power is provided by
rechargeable Nicad batteries capable of
collecting over 5,000 readings on a single
charge. A separate lithium battery provides
back-up power. The standard model is compact
for reading wall-mounted touchpads. Probes
are also available with fixed or telescoping
extensions for reading pit-set meters, eliminating
any need to bend down to collect readings.
OPERATION: To read a meter, simply
hold the VersaProbe device up to a touchpad
then pull and release the trigger. The probe
uses patented auto-sensing technology to
determine which type of meter it is reading,
and collects the reading from the touchpad.
The LCD panel will display the meter ID
and the meter reading. All reading data
is automatically passed to the handheld
computer for data storage and upload to
the billing system. The ID lookup feature
allows the meter reader to read the route
in any order.
